Video Surveillance at Hofwiesenstrasse 135

Guggach AG (Guggach Apartments or Guggach Apartôtel), Hofwiesenstrasse 135, 8057 Zurich (hereinafter referred to as we or us) operates a building with furnished serviced apartments in Zurich. We also rent apartments and commercial spaces in other properties. Guggach AG operates the website www.guggach.com. Therefore, we are responsible for the collection and processing of personal data.

At the address Hofwiesenstrasse 135 in Zurich, there are various video cameras. This declaration informs you about their location, purpose, and retention period. In principle, our general privacy policy applies at www.guggach.com/en/privacy-policy.html.

Where are the cameras installed?

Basically, cameras are installed in the following locations:

  • Main entrance and foyer on the Bucheggplatz level
  • Rear entrance and courtyard from outside at the parking spaces on the building's rear side
  • Staircase on the 1st floor in front of the reception
  • In the reception and office
  • In the upper garage at the barrier, the cash desk, and the rear exit ramp
  • In the lower garage at the exit ramp and at the Denner descent
  • In the fitness room (with written consent of the users)

What is the purpose of the cameras?

The cameras were installed for the following purposes:

  • Preventive protection against property damage and vandalism in the garage and on vehicles or at the entrance
  • Preventive or psychological protection of persons when entering the building
  • As evidence in criminal offenses through property damage, theft, or crimes against persons
  • As evidence in parking damage to vehicles or garage facilities
  • Remote support for problems with locked-out persons or problems in the underground garage. The live images from the cameras help to identify where the person is located, and we can identify them for access issues.

Who has access to the cameras and the recordings?

Access to the system with live images and recordings is granted to only a few persons from Guggach. All authorized persons work in the office and are in a position of trust.

In the event of property damage or a crime against persons, the recordings of the incident will be handed over to the law enforcement authorities (police, public prosecutor's office, etc.) upon report.

Where are the recordings stored?

As soon as movement is technically detected by the camera, a few seconds before, the event itself, and a few seconds after are digitally recorded. The recordings are securely stored on a server in the building itself. The recordings normally never leave the building. No backups of the recordings are created.

How long are the recordings stored?

The motion data is stored for 48 to 72 hours depending on the camera. Property damage often occurs on weekends or holidays. We often only notice this on the following working day. Only the longer retention period allows us to still identify the perpetrator or secure evidence for a criminal complaint. After the retention period, deletion occurs automatically, unless they are set aside separately for evidence purposes.

What are your rights?

You can object to data processing at any time, provided there are no legal restrictions or the request is not disproportionate or harassing. You can exercise the rights in writing, by e-mail, or in person. We are obliged to identify you using an official ID. You have in particular the following rights:

Right to information: You have the right to view the recordings, provided you can tell us the exact time, the recordings have not yet been deleted, and no other persons appear on them.

Right to deletion: You have the right to have the recording removed before automatic deletion, provided that no event mentioned above is visible on it that could potentially be criminal.

Right to complain: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority about the way your personal data is processed.
