Guggach AG specialises in the rental of furnished apartments and student rooms in the city of Zurich, as well as a small number of residential apartments and commercial spaces.
In our main building at Bucheggplatz, we operate the Aparthotel Guggach with its 102 furnished serviced apartments. The office building, originally constructed in 1975 with a restaurant on the ground floor, was stripped back to its shell structure in 2012 and completely reimagined. The result is today's apartment house with accompanying services. The building itself is CO₂-free, heated by geothermal probes, and passively cooled. High-quality sound-insulated windows ensure a peaceful environment in every room.
A dedicated team of front office staff, housekeeping, and assistants takes care of your wellbeing (see below). Our company address, office, and reception are also located in the Guggach building.

History
In the 1940s, Otto Weber opened a restaurant on Uraniastrasse in Zurich. The family business grew enormously in the 1950s as the economy along Bahnhofstrasse boomed. At the time there were no staff canteens, so the Weber family prepared hundreds of lunches every day at the Urania. The family, known for their forward-thinking approach, were among the co-founders of what are today's lunch vouchers (Lunchchecks).
It was customary then to provide employees with staff accommodation. By purchasing properties for this purpose, the Weber family unknowingly laid the foundation for the activities of today's Guggach AG.
Bucheggplatz still had a rural character in those days. On the site of today's apartment building stood a modest, old restaurant that had long been in the family's possession.
In 1971, Otto Weber passed the business on to the next generation, who subsequently founded Otto Weber & Co. They erected the office building "Guggach" at Bucheggplatz in 1975, on the site of the former restaurant. The popular Restaurant Guggach opened on the first floor, while the upper floors were rented out to a company as office space.
In 2003, a generational handover took place from Otto Weber and Marlis Zumbühl to the current generation: Primus Zumbühl and Annica Ruedin-Weber.
In 2009, a project was launched for the complete renovation and repositioning of the Guggach office building at Bucheggplatz. The result was the newly opened apartment house with services, which welcomed its first guests in 2012.
In 2022, five additional apartments were created on the former restaurant floor, along with an 85 m² fitness room. At the same time, Bakery Hausammann (Zopfbeck) opened a retail shop with a coffee bar in the building.
